The mission of the AKC Canine Health Foundation is to develop significant resources for basic and applied health programs with emphasis on canine genetics to improve the quality of life for dogs and their owners. As a longtime dog owner and aficionado, it gave me great satisfaction to design their annual reports, newsletters, brochures, donation packages and ads.
In 2003, the AKC Canine Health Foundation moved to Raleigh, North Carolina; On the Move was the theme for the annual report. I used photos of dogs in motion throughout the report.
In 1997, a beginning genetic linkage map of canine DNA was published: this marked the most significant milestone ever in canine genetics. I used a DNA pattern as a graphic throughout the report. The opening spread featured a vellum transparent sheet with the DNA pattern that revealed a dog on a globe beneath.
The AKC Canine Health Newsletter was designed in two colors, folded to mail and was published twice a year
